TEMPLE ISRAEL MEN'S
CLUB
The
Temple Israel Men’s Club, formed in 1982, provides camaraderie and information for its members. Speakers
from a wide variety of backgrounds address the group and demonstrate various skills. The Men’s Club
also provides, as needed, additional services to the Temple.
Men’s Club, President’s Message
I am happy to announce that we are going to restart Temple Israel’s Men's’ Club! After a number of
years of dormancy, let’s get the Men’s Club back in operation!
For
many years Temple Israel’s Men’s Club was a very active organization, sponsoring many activities/fundraisers for
the Temple. As a member of this organization since the late eighties (some of those years as its Treasurer), I was very impressed
with its organizational structure, and the ease with which it was able to plan its activities, especially major fundraisers
for the Temple. With volunteers and leadership always available to assist in whatever events were being planned, work was
easy and the events themselves came out successfully. Whether we made a lot of money or not, the main thing was that we had
a good time.
Unfortunately a lot has changed over time. Volunteers and
leadership for the Men’s Club is lacking. For the last number of years finding someone to take on the leadership of
the Men’s Club has been difficult. One cannot argue that people are busy and that other priorities must come first.
Even so, we must make every effort to create an organized Men’s Club which will be long lasting and hopefully contribute
to the continued growth of Temple Israel.
That is why I would like to make
another attempt to revive Temple Israel’s Men’s Club. A major goal, is to bring the men of Temple Israel together
to form a new, long lasting Men’s Club. Let’s start off small, meeting to discuss what we want to do for the future
and how we plan to do it. To avoid confusion, I have no desire planning any fundraising activities so soon after starting
up the organization again. It could take a couple of months or a year before we are ready to undertake any type of fundraiser.
Let us first organize ourselves, meet, talk, and continue to meet and talk until we feel comfortable that we are ready to
undertake a fundraising event. At that point I hope to have people who would be able to commit some of their time to planning
and running such an event.
